Monday 4/28

  • RL Check tomorrow (signature and 2.5 hours required)

  • Reread and study the song lyrics from Miranda Lambert's "The House That Built Me" on your shared drive. Jot down ideas about each of the following.

  1. What do you notice?

  2. How does it compare to the poems from class? Similarities? Differences?

  3. Make notes about repetition, mood, and details in the lyrics that give you a clear image of something.


Tuesday 4/29

  • RL (Poetry would be great if you have some poetry books!)

  • Review the handout passed out in class. (both sides)

  • Choose a book you've read, or are reading. Mark 3 pages in the book that might be good to use as inspiration for a Found and Parallel poem. Bring the book to class.(Text with strong description, imagery and figurative language works well.) We will write the poems in class tomorrow.

Wednesday 4/30

  • RL- Visit the Poetry Foundation site. Read several poems and print a copy of a poem that you like. Bring the poem to class on Thursday.

Thursday (5/1)
  • RL

  • Finish any incomplete work from Poetry Workshop. (discussion guide & Found and Parallel Poem must be complete for Friday.)

Friday (5/2)
  • RL- Visit Poetry Out Loud on the Resources Link on our Wiki. Go to Poems and performances tab. Read several poems (record time on RL) and print one poem that appeals to you. Bring your poem to class on Monday.
